A man in his 70s is currently being transferred from the Macksville Hospital to the John Hunter Hospital via helicopter.
The Westpac Rescue Helicopter touched down at the Alan Gillett Oval just after 12.30pm as stunned onlookers watched on.
Information sent from the Aircrewman, Graham Nickisson, from the Hunter Region Westpac Rescue Helicopter states that the man is suffering from a serious medical condition.
The chopper crew helped secure a stabilising unit onto a stretcher before loading it into an ambulance en route to Macksville Hospital to pick up the patient.
