The road trip down from the Macksville Showground was one of the many activities planned by the Volkswagen Spectacular event.
The bi-annual meet of this VW Classic started in the 80s when Mark and Donna Pell organised a day to get together for VW owners on the North Coast.
It was held just north of Nambucca Heads and 110 VW’s came, some from as far away as Sydney and Brisbane.
Now, over 30 years later, the event has grown to a week-long gathering of car enthusiasts from across the country.
Tomorrow night, Thursday, is a special community event at the new home of the classic, Macksville Showground.
From 3pm there will be market stalls and live entertainment, not to mention food and of course the Rotary and Lions barbeques.
Magnificent lanterns will light the showground, with the unveiling of a special VW bug lantern, created especially for this moment.
And of course there is the all-time favourite, the Show ‘n Shine in Nambucca Heads on Saturday.
