However, until this week, the only way these applications could be lodged with Council was on a CD-ROM.
“Only CD-ROMs satisfied Council’s security protocols when it came to receiving development applications electronically, however Council realises that not many people are still using this technology,” Council’s manager of development and environment Daniel Walsh said.
“So, for the past few months Council has been developing and testing an electronic lodgement portal on our website.
“I’m pleased to announce that testing is now complete and the portal is available on Council’s website to receive development and similar applications. This will enable people to lodge an application with Council wherever and whenever they have access to the internet.”
All applications lodged via the portal will be checked for completeness by Council’s duty planner.
If there are any errors, the duty planner will email the applicant outlining what is incorrect or incomplete together with a unique link to their application on the portal to enable them to change the documents that have been submitted.
Once Council is happy all the information is correct, the applicant will be emailed confirmation of this, together with an invoice that can be paid online.
“So now people have two ways of lodging development and similar applications with Council – either via the lodgement portal, which is quick and easy, or as a hard copy if access to the portal is an issue,” Mr Walsh said.
The portal may be found on Council’s website, www.nambucca.nsw.gov.au under Planning and Development, Development Applications.
