BLAME the cold weather, because the Nambucca Strikers men’s 2nd division outfit started slower than an old Leyland P76 on a frosty morning in their North Coast Football clash with Orara Valley this afternoon.

The Dingoes were one to the good before the small crowd had even donned their ugg boots and blankies.
Stung into life, the Strikers engine found its note, and they had Orara under the pump for the next half hour, finally being rewarded with a score.
But the Dingoes – somewhat against the momentum – added a second before the break to hit the sheds 2-1.
The pause did Nambucca no favours – they shoud have left the P76 idling – as Orara scored within seconds of the resumption.
Two more followed in short order – to kill the result if not the contest – as the visitors ran out 7-1 victors.
For Nambucca, keeper Dave ‘Red’ McBarron turned the clock back with a busy and composed game between the sticks.
Orara, a quality side who caught the eye with a 2-all draw away a couple of weeks back against leaders Woolgoolga, were too good on the day – winning the battle in the middle of the pitch and regularly getting in behind the Strikers defenders.
But both sides will feature come the finals, with enough points already in the bank.
