This event will allow people of all abilities to experience the beautiful Dumaresq Dam and Mt Duval precinct. There will be some serious altitude in Australia’s highest city.
The Duval Dam Buster Trail Run (DDB) consists of three trail running events within the Mt Duval and Dumaresq Dam areas – a 2.5km loop around Dumaresq Dam for kids and families, a 15km course from Dumaresq Dam up to the top of Mt Duval for the more adventurous, and a 30km course which will be double the 15km course for those who like a real challenge.
Mt Duval is a large forested mountain on the New England Range, part of the Great Dividing Range. With an elevation of 1400 metres above sea level, Mt Duval is one of the largest peaks in the area, dominating the Armidale skyline. The 15km and 30km participants will experience some steep, challenging sections to reach the top of the mountain.
The event start/finish area will be at the recreation area at Dumaresq Dam, the perfect place for a family picnic. There is a children’s play area, picnic tables and shaded spots. The dam is located approximately 12km from the Armidale CBD.
The organisers are inviting interested runners and walkers to register soon to take advantage of the early bird discounts. Medals will be awarded to all finishing participants and the organisers have some fantastic spot prizes to give away on the day.
The event is organised by the DDB committee and will be will be hosted by Armidale Athletics Club Inc. It is sponsored by Armidale Town & Country Real Estate, Armidale Regional Council, JNC Group, SportUNE and New England Locksmiths.
