THE CHIRP on the sideline from the respective benches was almost as entertaining as the full throttle action on the pitch in a North Coast Football men’s 3rd division clash at Woolgoolga this afternoon.

In glorious winter sunshine, the 1 o’clock match featured competition tearaways Woolgoolga Wolves and the third-placed Orara Valley Dingoes.
The Wolves looked to have the goods but the larger frames from the hill country just wouldn’t go away, and snatched a late goal to secure a 2-all result.
The encore saw the battling but unbowed Nambucca Strikers square up with Woolgoolga Sharks.
The hosts with the gathering breeze at their shoulder blades had much of the run of the first half, but the young Strikers showed heart and grit as the match paused duck eggs-apiece at the break.
But on the resumption, Nambucca fell away on some marking, as the Sharks finished over the top 3-1, in a much improved performance by the Strikers.
The Macksville Stingers – still well in the chase for a finals berth – enjoyed the bye.
