North and southbound lanes will be intermittently closed for up to three kilometres, one lane at a time.
Lane closures are expected to remain in place overnight and speed limits will be reduced while work is carried out.
The changes are expected to be in place for the duration of the work which is scheduled to take around 12 weeks to complete, weather permitting.
Motorists are advised reduced speed limits of 40km/h and 80km/h will be in place within the project area until work is complete.
Motorists should drive to the conditions and follow the direction of signs and traffic control.
Roads and Maritime Services thanks the community for its patience while work is carried out.
