Winner in A grade was Phillip Mander with 34 points on a countback from Brett Moody (Antill Park). Taking out B grade was Linne Street (15 handicap) with 36 points, from runner-up David Bird (13) with 33 points.
Best round of the day and winning C grade was Lee Fewings (28) with a round of 39 points. Runner-up was Peter Fredricks (19) with 34 points, along with Col Dunne who missed out in the countback.
Ball run down went to 29 with just the one given and that went to Phil Frost. Pins for the day went to Garnie O’Brien at 3, Eddy Penrose at the Nambucca Newsagents 5th, Paul Ryan took out the 7th and Geoff Poole won the 8th. It’s taken about 14 years but Chris Thorndike had a hole-in-one at the pizza hole 13, Steve Frost picked up the 15th and Alvin Rapley took out the money shot at the 18th.
On Thursday 74 contested the medley stableford event played in two divisions. Winner of division A was Col Wormleaton from Jason Belt, both with rounds of 35 points. Taking out division B were Col Edmonds and Lyn Grose, both off a handicap of 21. Col had a 34 and Lyn a round of 32. Missing out in the countback for second were Walter Bortoletto and Terry Coelli.
Ball rundown went down to 28 and seven players will collect and they are Paul Ryan, Roy Sims, Louise Freebairn, Peter Moxon, Urpo Ylinen, Doug Cheetham (Kempsey) and Geoff Wilson.
Nearest the pins went to Jason Belt at 3, Peter Moxon at 5, Michael Bennett at 7 and 15, Col Edmonds at 8, Col Habgood took out the pizza, while there was no winner at 18 as an invalid player signed for the prize so this will jackpot to this Thursday.
On Sunday the mixed foursomes championship attrracted a small field but there was plenty of quality. Favourites for the event did not disappoint as they put together nine hole totals of 41, 42 and 42 – for a gross of 125. They were Darcy Habgood and Denys Tobin.
