Dirk Prummel won the Dolphin Day shirt with a score of 40 points playing off a handicap of 14. Winner in A grade was Greg McCoy (3 handicap) who had a round of 36 points, followed by Ben Honeybrook (10) 34 points.
B grade was taken out by Peter Moxon (16) also a round of 36 points. Runner-up was Jason Belt (13) 35 points. Colin Edmonds (22) took out the C grade prize with 37 points from Mark Nugent (19) 36.
Others to show out were Peter Dawe and and Peter Delaney, both a 36-point round. Ball rundown went to 31 with just the one pick-up going to Mark Blake. Nearest the pins: John Fortescue took out Sladies ball at the 3rd, Chris Thorndike won the 5th Nambucca Newsagents hole, Col Habgood (Kempsey) won the 7th, Geoff Rackham the 8th, Geoff McCann the pizza hole, Warren Fuller took Stu’s ball at 15, and Roy Louise picked up the money shot at 18.
The Monthly Medal on Saturday sponsored by Nambucca Local Liquor was played in three grades with Greg Smith putting together a good round in A grade 75/66, well in front of Allen O’Brien 80/71. Peter Farrell was best off the stick with 74, which included an eagle on the par five 4th.
In B grade Geoff Harris was too good for the opposition after a score of 87/71 with Doug Broadman (Ballina) an 87/73.
Winner all weekend was John Patterson who had luck in the raffles and then had the hide to take out C grade with 106/71. Don Atkinson held onto his good form of last week to again finish in the winners’ circle with 104/71.
Ball rundown went to 75 points with Peter Fredericks, Steve Doherty and Steve Frost to collect. Pins for the round were won by Paul McElhinney, Alvin Rapley, Geoff McCann, Lyall Gregory, Drew Glasson, Mark Astley (Ballina) and Garnie O’Brien.
Island Sunday saw 30 players in the 4BBB which was sponsored by Geoff and Mary Rees. Picking up the spoils was good mate Geoff Harris and partner for the day Heather Gray after they recorded 43 points. Next best was Robyn Jones and Shane Anderson with 41 points, and Garry and Maria Swain (Coffs) a round of 40 points. Ball rundown went to 36.
This Saturday the 3Gs will be the sponsors with plenty of pick ups to be had, with graded markers for all par 3s, straight and longest drives, best front and back nines as well as extra prize money for some.
On Sunday the course will host the qualifier for the NSW Open as well as the over 50 years men’s senior qualifier.
