It’s now been almost a year since Lifetime Connect took over the running of the Visitor Information Centre and yesterday they held a day to reflect on their progress and celebrate with the local community.

Visitors and locals flocked to the centre, drawn in by the home-made goodies and slick voices of our local 2NVR presenters who broadcast live from the Nambucca Heads post for the day.
Manager Geoff Byron said the team had been mainly concentrating on building a rapport with local businesses.
“I don’t believe in letting people come to me. I;m more about going out there to let people know what’s here,” Geoff said.
There’s also been subtle changes to the centre’s layout since January, opening up the space so that it can now “comfortably hold 20 to 30 people”.
And they’ve decorated the eaves with beautiful commissioned panoramas of the Nambucca, shot by the Valley’s own ‘eye in the sky’, Tony Vidler.
“The brief I gave Tony was to try and avoid icons like the Pub With No Beer and the main street of Bowraville, but to focus on the natural beauty of our country location,” Geoff said.
Next on the cards for the centre is the production of a food trail brochure, in conjunction with Bob Lewis of Tango Print, to highlight for visitors the best places to chow down in town.
There’s another pop-up day on the cards in July/August and Geoff hopes to soon set up a regular fresh produce table to support our local farmers and to compensate somewhat for the loss of the Macksville Producers Markets.
These fine touches are the first hints of Lifetime Connect’s ‘bigger picture’ plan for the centre as a hub for local community and visitors alike.
