There was a ‘Megan’ and a ‘Harry’ and a whole lot of laughter to follow as the Guardians’ very own Melissa Davis played the role of Megan Markle walking down the isle to her own prince (and real life partner) Loui Despotovski, aka Prince Harry, in a satirical take on the royal ceremony unfolding simultaneously… on the other side of the world.
Megan wore a lavish halter-neck gown complete with intricate detailing over the bodice, while Harry sported regal dungarees, cowboy hat and penguin tails. And in a comical, lighthearted version of what a royal bush wedding looks like there was even a shot gun and a baby bump.
Serenaded by an electric-guitar rendition of ‘here comes the bride’, Megan made her way down the isle, escorted by her ‘father’, who carried his trusty shot-gun to ensure the deal was honoured. It was Bishop Boyd of McHughes Creek presiding over the ceremony and a comic exchange of vows ensured.
Esteemed locals from around the Valley made the guest list and joined in for the night’s frivolity, dressing in costumes fit for a royal wedding. There were even a few bridal dresses from years gone by in the mix.
After the official proceedings were complete, and dinner was done, the royal band – The Loose Cannons kept the crowd on their feet into the night.
The bush party was a fundraising event to raise money for the upkeep of South Arm Hall. Organisers said it was a great success.
