Top of his game was Ken Marriott (13 handicap) with a round of 37 points. Following in Ken’s footsteps as he often does was Denys (Chicken) Tobin with a score of 36 points playing off a mark of 12. Winner in division 2 was Shane Anderson (29) with 35 points, taking the voucher from David Matelot (19) in a countback.
Ball rundown went to 31 with plenty of players in the mix, and they are Andrew Johnston, Peter Farrell, John Slade, Chris Thorndike, Hans Janson, Geoff McCann, Peter Bush and Geoff Wilson.
Pins went to Stu Johnston, Rodney and Robin Robertson, Denys Tobin, Mark Nugent took the pizza, Michael Harmer won Stu’s ball at the 15th while Mark Blake cleaned up with the money shot at 18.
Saturday was the Keno qualifier round with a fourball vs par, with 84 contesting. Winners with a great score of plus 9 Glen Crow and Rob Coneybeare. Not to be outdone, Steve Doherty and Andrew McKinnon also had a round of plus 9. These four will represent in the next round of the Keno. Taking up a reserve spot will be Les Mohr and Paul Maxwell after they finished with a plus 7 round.
Some of the players did not pay the extra for the Keno and as a result Colin Dunne and Roy Louis fill the second reserve spot on plus 4. Those to miss out were Geoff McCann and Geoff Harris, James Barrie and Trevor Hopkins, Ed Penrose and Geoff Poole all with plus 6, and on plus 5 Rod Robertson and Bryan Ussher, Paul Ryan and Walter Bortoletto.
Ball rundown went to plus three with just the one team to collect – Aart Hooykaas and Peter Fredricks. Play of the day was taken out by Garry Beggs with a hole-in-one at the 8th. Other pins went to Dale Hanson the 3rd, Rob Coneybeare at the newsagents’ 5th, Steve Cumming at 7, Drew Glasson the pizza, while Geoff McCann put in a great shot to win the money shot at 18.
On Sunday a small field played an America Foursomes with the result going to Uri Ylinen and Henny Oldenhove 71 points. Runners-up were Deidre Byrne and partner Rod Robertson with a 77.88 scorecard. Pins went to Gillian Buganey, while Uri Ylinen and Garnet O’Brien won the men’s.
The last round of the pennants were played at The Island with a win to both of the club’s teams. Open C division won 3/2 against Bellingen and the division 3B had a 4/1 win over Urunga, this should ensure that this team makes the finals and expects to play Grafton next weekend.
