In Thursday’s round Scotty partnered Hans Jansen in the 4BBB event that had a field of 75 players take part.They put together a round of 49 points, well in front of the nearest rival. Runners-up Michael and Jo-Anna Stinson had a score of 44. Roy Simms and Noel Gaddes recorded a 43-point round to pick up a voucher. Three groups finished with 42 points and they were Uri Ylinen and Peter Dawe, Paul Maxwell and Paul McElhinney, and Garry Tierney and Don Lavery.
Ball rundown went to 40 points with six groups to collect and they are Andrew Donavan and Mark McFaul, Shane Anderson and Peter McGill, Stu Johnson and Andrew Bagust, Bryan Ussher and Keith Elphick, Geoff McCann and Geoff Harris, and Peter Delany and Geoff Wilson.
Pins went to Denys Tobin at 3, Keith Elphick at 7, Jason Belt at 5, Mark Nugent at 8 and 18th money shot, M Stone the pizza, no 15th as someone removed the pin and didn’t put the marker back robbing all who followed no chance to participate.
On finishing my round I located the marker on the 18th (thanks to however removed the marker you could have returned it to it’s rightful place).
On Saturday the wind played havoc with some players’ games, while others took advantage and used the big blow to advantage, with 105 players being tested. Garnet O’Brien came out on top in A grade. Playing off 8, Carnie had a round of 37, just the one ahead of Bruce Berry (4 handicap). Winner of B grade went to ‘Grandpa’ Trevor Hopkins (17) 36 points from Geoff McCann (15) 34 points. Scott Burley (22) as stated was the best of C grade with a 36-point round from runner-up Clyde Johnson (Beaudesert) 34 points. Ball rundown went to 30 with just the two given out to Paul Maxwell and Michael Briscoe.
Taking out pins were Graeme Weary at Sladies Hole 3, Michael Summerill at the Nambucca Newsagencies hole 5, John Toombs at 7, Denys Tobin at 8, Col Wormleaton the pizza at 13, Bruce Berry at Stu’s hole 15th, and Garry Beggs put it near the pin and sank the putt to get the money on 18.
This Saturday will be a qualifier for the Keno Fourball later in the year. Players have the chance to reap the rewards by finishing in the top two of this 4BBB vs Par.
