Last week he carded 39 stableford points from a 15 handicap to take the B grade honours. Down to a 14 mark at the weekend, he returned 65 nett in the monthly medal stroke round.
Other medal winners on Saturday went to Stu Johnston in A grade with 75/68, followed by Peter Farrell 71/69. Bruce Berry took out the scratch with a 76.
In B grade after Jason was Chris Thorndike 82/69. Scratch was won by Peter Moxon with an 86.
Back in C grade Steve Doherty 88/66 proved to good for playing partner Dave Rosser 86/67. Best off the stick score was Colin Easey with an 88. Ball rundown went to 75 on countback with Colin Dunne, Debbie Zahnow (Ipswich) and Bruce Devir (Newcastle) all to collect.
Pins for the round went to Stephen Powell at 3, Lee Fewings at 5, Phil Shields at 7, Chris Thorndike at 8, pizza to Michael Lee, Dennis Ashton took 15, and Drew Glasson won the money shot at 18.
On the Saturday there was a field of 95 starters with near perfect conditions – thanks to Nambucca Local Liquor for sponsoring the monthly medal rounds.
Thursday’s round of stableford saw 87 players contest three grades. Winner of A grade was Graham Weary (10 handicap) 37 points with Michael Bennett (12) 36 the runner-up. In B grade Jason Belt was followed a long way back by Peter Bush with a surprisingly low score of 33 to get the voucher. Taking out C grade was Mark Coony (27) 38 points from Raimo Neuvonen (26) 36 points. Ball rundown went to 32 points with plenty in the mix: Leanne Welsh, Andrew Bagust, Don Atkinson, Peter Miller, Kerry McCoy, Geoff Rees, and Kel McGoldrick all to collect.
Nearest the pins where taken out by Maxine Townsend at the second shot third hole, Geoff Wilson at 5, Colin Easey the 7th, Peter Miller the 8th, Chris Thorndike won the pizza hole, Rod Robertson the 15th and Dennis Ashton took out the money shot at 18.
Island Sunday was sponsored by Rhonda and Ray Rowe with a good field of 46 turning out on a beautiful day for golf. Making the best of conditions was Linne Street and Drew Glasson with a score of 47 that blew away the field. Geoff and Jan Harris come in runners-up with 43 in a countback from Lyn Grose and Greg Smith. Smithy also taking out two nearest the pins for the men while Donna Easey and Bunny Reafs from Maroochy River picked up the other at 18. Thanks also must go to the catering, handled by Kel and Kay McGoldrick with Deidre Byrne providing provisions.
