There’s something for everyone to enjoy, and with an abundance of competitions to take part in, you could even come away with a substantial cash prize.
There’s the unique decorate a gumboot competition, farm produce and fruit judging, jams, jellies and preserves categories, flowers and floral art judging. There’s even the homebrew judging competition.
On Sunday, there’s the Fun Run, the Young Farmers Challenge and Partner Carrying Competition.
Cooking demonstrations will fine tune your culinary skills. For car lovers, there will be a Vintage Car Show.
EVERY CHILD’S A WINNER
Every child entering something into any children’s category at this year’s show will receive a free movie pass, thanks to sponsors, Majestic Cinema.
Kids can also purchase a $2 children’s passport at the BCU stand located at the entrance to the show pavilion. Then simply collect the stamps from all 10 participating displays to receive a prize.
Face painting is a favourite for the young ones, and there is sideshow alley where you can experience all of the awesome carnival rides.
Troppo Bob will perform his magic show.
Head on over to Old MacDonald’s Farm to pet the animals and Steve McEwan’s Reptile World will get you up close and personal with slithering cold blooded creatures.
SO MUCH TO ENJOY
For the history buffs, there are the historical display trade stands and a pavilion full of exciting exhibits.
At 2pm on Saturday the Bellingen Solar Grand Parade will take place on the main arena and will feature many of the winners in their classes, including Jerseys and Holstein-Friesians in the Dairy category, and Angus, Brahman, Charolais, Speckle Park and more in the beef cattle category.
Peruse the art and sculpture competition and photography entries to appreciate such creative talent.
Plus there’s horse riding, show jumping and cattle judging.
Take a break and enjoy a tasty treat and drink from the onsite food stalls and bar all thanks to the sponsor, Coopers.
HOURS & ADMISSIONS
The showground is open all this week for entries to be dropped in – check the website for times.
Show hours on May 5th & 6th are Saturday 6am - 5pm; Sunday 8am - 3pm.
Entertainment takes place over both days across the showground. The Main Tent features school student performances on Saturday and Dance performances from the talented Rivers Dance Centre on Sunday.
Captain Awesome will be roving amongst the crowd all day Saturday. The Fun Run, Mongrel Dog Show, Young Farmers Challenge and Partner Carrying Competition all feature on Sunday.
