Quinlan steps into the ring against bitter rival Damien Hooper for the WBO International Light Heavyweight Title this Saturday at the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre.
The Dunghutti Destroyer is moving up a weight division for the fight and claims it puts all of the pressure on Hooper to get the win.
“I am relaxed, it’s just another fight for me – I have never felt this relaxed heading into a fight,” Quinlan said.
“All of the pressure is on him, he needs to win in his own weight division and be successful in his first title defence.
“He will be in for a rude shock though.”
Hooper boasts an impressive 13 wins and one loss record and enters this fight on the back of surprising the world with his 10-round unanimous decision win over the previously undefeated Russian Umar Salamov last July.
However, the London Olympian was sensationally knocked out in the opening 20 seconds of his fight with Rob Powdrill, a relatively unknown boxer, back in 2014.
Quinlan has seen the knockout and claims he will expose Hooper’s weak chin.
“It won’t go the 10 rounds, I won’t be wasting any of my punches and I will get my chance and take it,” Quinlan said.
“Hooper throws a lot of punches and leaves his hands down, I will counter him and finish him.
“I am looking forward to getting in there and showing everyone what I have got.”
Quinlan has balanced his training between physical and mental preparation and believes it’s made him stronger than ever.
“I’ve been working on all of the things that need training – getting my fitness right, ring work and all of that,” Quinlan said.
“But I have also worked on my mental toughness. I know exactly what I need to do and I have complete focus on that task.”
Quinlan, who holds a record of 12 wins and two losses, made a household name for himself after knocking out Daniel Geale in the latter’s hometown for the IBO Super Middleweight Title in 2016.
