DEIRDRE Brander (Newcastle/Horizons) has taken out her fifth NSW Senior Championship at The Island Golf Course, Nambucca Heads, in a nail-biting match against Jacqui Morgan (Monash), winning 2-up on the 18th hole.

Jacqui was the favourite going into the final, being the number one seed as well as the winner for the past four years.
Deirdre made some clutch putts under pressure to stay in front or at least square for the duration of the match and was thrilled to be able to play so well in the final. Brander had previously won the Championship in 1999, 2007, 2009 and 2013.
It was a difficult day for the top seeds with every number one seeded player going down to their opponent.
