26 teams from seven schools across the Nambucca entered to have a crack at the State title.

The day was split into six competitive divisions, including a Year 7/8 and Year 9/10 boys division.

And the Year 3/4s tested their skills in their own (non-scored) Gala Day with modified rules to encourage participation and fun.

There was some great netball on display across all ages, and it was heartening to see so many boys trying the game on for size.

The St Pat’s chicas were on point – mere swishes of maroon against their befuddled opponents.

The Frank Partridge Year 5/6 shooting superstars were also standouts on the day – intercept after intercept, goal after goal (with nothing but net), these boys seemed to be everywhere at once. 

When asked how long they’d been playing for, the crimson-cheeked pocket rockets said they’d only just picked up a netball on Wednesday!

Elsewhere, the Macksville boys were being schooled by a much more professional-looking Nambucca Heads High girls side in a friendly.

And in the NetSetGo Gala, the St Mary’s mixed team had a style all of their own: Elvis might be the king of rock, but he may well be crowned ‘king of the centre court’ too.

From the spectator stands an interesting dialogue was playing out between a group of young lads.

“But netball’s so boring!,” Boy 1 said.

“Nah, that’s because you didn’t play,” Boy 2 said.

“Yeah, it’s boring to watch netball but it’s actually heaps of fun to play,” Boy 3 said.

“Oh ok, maybe I’ll play next time then,” Boy 1 kowtowed.
