Nambucca riders shine at Bellinger River Pony Club Gymkhana

SIX riders from the Nambucca River District Pony Club travelled to Bellingen Showground for the Bellinger River Pony Club Gymkhana.

Shakirra Silvia, Ashleigh Johnson and Tayla Chapman competed in the associate classes, Jorja Woods and Lilly McCormack rode in the 11 and under 13 year classes and Ruby Green competed in the Beginners.

For Junior member Ruby Green, it was only her second event and first competition off the lead. Ruby produced a determined performance on her mare Snowy who can be cantankerous at times. It was noted by her fellow competitors that Ruby had a ‘green’ theme occurring on the day. This was due to her winning a number of green 5th placed ribbons.

The Nambucca riders produced some outstanding results with Jorja Woods being awarded Reserve Champion Junior rider and Tayla Chapman winning the AM5 Associate B grade showjumping class.

Lilly McCormack was the highest point scorer from the club and was awarded the Glenn Brighton Memorial Trophy for her fine efforts. Lilly had won all of the sporting events in her age group. At the recent North Dorrigo Sporting Championships Lilly placed 6th Flags, 5th Bending and 2nd Sporting Figure of Eight.
