But Nambucca Valley Christian Community School (NVCCS) will soon benefit from a new $2 million multipurpose hall thanks to a $1 million grant through the Federal Government’s Capital Grants Program.

Member for Cowper Luke Hartsuyker visited the school yesterday to announce the funding and pin badges to the school’s new leadership team.

Mr Hartsuyker said there were a number of points considered when choosing which schools around the country which would receive the grant.

Of primary importance was NVCCS’s impressive growth.

“I remember when I first came to this school the number of students was around 30,” he said.

“Now, after just a few years, the student population is nearing 300.”

Mr Hartsuyker said the school community’s ability to match the grant funding dollar for dollar (bringing the combined amount to $2 million) was also an important factor in the school’s successful bid.

“This funding will contribute to the construction of a multipurpose hall with an added learning area for performing arts,” Mr Hartsuyker said.

“The school community will be contributing $1 million towards the cost of this project, which is no small achievement.

“While buildings alone do not make a school, students and the whole local community will benefit from using these new facilities.”

The new auditorium will be the fifth stage of construction at the Valley’s first K-12 private school.
