IN THE final regular round of the Nambucca Valley club cricket competition at the weekend, Star Hotel met Nambucca Hotel at Thistle Park Turf.

Nambucca Hotel won the toss and sent Star Hotel in to bat on wicket that was a bit slow and it was tough going for the Star boys against the Nambucca Hotel bowling attack.
The game was reduced to 38 overs a side with a late start due to a light shower of rain which forced the covers back on about 20 minutes before play was due to start.
Star Hotel managed a hard grinding 9/125 with Nigel Wilbow in the unaccustomed role of opener top scoring with 42 and Barry Lockyer chipping in for 15. Mick Townsend 3/6 off 7 overs and Matt Ward 2/25 off 8 overs were the best with the ball for Nambucca Hotel.
Nambucca Hotel found the going tough as well losing wickets regularly with some great catching by the Star Hotel fieldsmen. Nigel Wilbow took two catches to go with his good knock while Joe Costa split his thumb open taking a fast one at second slip. Nobody really got going with the bat for Nambucca Hotel and they were all out for 75 in 26 overs. Dave Stuart and Daniel Ledger both with 13 were top scorers, Joe Costa 4/20 and Barry Lockyer 3/17 the best bowlers for Star Hotel.
Star Hotel Winners by 50 runs and secure themselves a finals spot.
Peter Lee reports – Bowraville hosted Nambucca Heads on a hot humid afternoon with Bowraville needing a win to keep their finals hopes alive and Nambucca Heads needing a win to secure the minor premiership in its first year back of seniors in four years.
Nambucca Heads won the toss and elected to bat.
Nambucca started well with Greg Watts 75, Peter Lee 29 and a good hit from Troy Herbert 35 – to be all out in the 35th over for 175.
Pick of the bowlers for Bowra were Eric Brown 3/48 and J North 3/11.
Bowraville then batted with G Smith 23 the only batter to make double digits, as they were all out for 48 in the 15th over.
Nambucca Heads best bowlers were Peter Lee 5/16 and Greg Watts 3/5.
The game was at times as hot as the weather but all shook hands at the end.
Ricky Styles reports – Country Club took on Scotts Head in last game of the regular season. Scotts won the toss and chose to bat, putting on 195 all out with Dylan Stewart 59 ,Ryan Gleeson 41,and Jimi Allan 33 best with bat. Best bowlers for Country Club were Tyson ‘Garry’ Styles taking 4/31 of 5 overs, Ossie Kinnear 2/40 and C Humphreys 2/52. Jason Warwick bowled 7 overs and took 1/12.
In reply Country Club were going to struggle with several players away. Best batters for country club were Ossie Kinnear 48, Jason Warwick 15 and Jacob Humphreys 10. Best bowlers for Scotts Head were Thomas Barbour 2/21, Jason Borthwick 2/29 and Jimi Allan 2/35. Jacob Pedrola bowled eight overs and took 1/3. Scotts defeated Country Club who were all out for 104.
