Pinks Stumps Day was celebrated by both the junior and senior competitions with plenty getting into the spirit with pink shirts and hats and even a pink tutu was seen being worn. There were pink stumps for the matches, pink cupcakes and much, much more.
Funds raised on the day will be passed on to the McGrath Foundation to help fund beast cancer care nurses.
On Saturday there was also a presentation thanking all the people who helped raise money for the new mower that takes care of the fields. The mower was purchased late last year using funds donated by various organisations. They include $12,500 from council, $20,000 from Luke Hartsuyker, $12,500 from NSW Cricket, $10,000 from Melinda Pavey, and a $5000 Volunteer grant. In attendance was Mr Hartsuyker, mayor Rhonda Hoban and Martin Garoni from Cricket NSW.
The on field action saw Nambucca Hotel defeat Macsville Country Club in the last of the pool matches, as Bowraville forfeited to Nambucca Heads due to lack of numbers.
That saw Nambucca Hotel play Scotts Head in the final on the Thistle Park Turf.
Scotts Head batted first but a couple of early run outs saw them under extreme pressure and they only managed to score 84 in their 20 overs.
Nambucca Hotel passed the total with three overs to spare to be crowned T20 Champions for 2017/18.
So it’s now back to the regular 40 over competition this Saturday with just 2 rounds before the finals.
Draw:
Nambucca Hotel v Macsville Country Club on the Thistle Park Turf
Scotts Head v Bowraville at Scotts Head
Star Hotel v Nambucca Heads at Donnelly Welsh
All games start at 1pm.
Over 40s Interdistrict
Unfortunately the Nambucca Valley side had to forfeit as they had a number of players involved in junior finals on the same day.
