THE PAIRING of Stu Johnston and Andrew Bagust proved too good for the other 45 pairs in the 4BBB event at The Island Golf Course on Thursday.

They put together a round of 48 points, well ahead of nearest rivals Wayne Purcell and Rod Robertson on 45. Others to shine were Bernie Dugdale and Drew Glasson, 44 points, who received the second runners-up voucher on a countback from Mark Nugent and Geoff Rackham.

Tim Standing and Roger Bale, Paddy Byrne and John Hopkins, and Robert Crouch and Geoff McCann all returned 43-point rounds.

Balls in the rundown went to 42 with six pairs to collect: Dave Mattacott and Kerry McCoy, Jeff Myers and Stephen Ryan, Garry O’Brien and Peter Moxon, Warren Fuller and Paul McElhinney, Scott Burley and Hans Jansen, and Roy Simms and John McCollum. Pins went to Warren Fuller the 2nd shot at 3, (Sladies hole) G Kingsmill at 5, D Lloyd at 7, Mark Nugent at 8, Garry O’Brien at 13, Bernie Dugdale at 15, and a well deserved money shot to John Patterson at 18.

On Saturday 100 players teed off in a single stableford that doubled as first round in the Top Ten Shootout, for those wishing to partake.

Graham Weary (11 handicap) with 39 points took out the A grade from Stuart Garvey (10) 37 points. Trevor Peter won B grade with a round of 40 points while Bernie Dugdale continued good form, having a round of 38 points. For C grade Hans Jansen (24) found his form with a round of 38. Mark McFaul (19) back in C grade found the extra handicap to his liking with 36 points and took out the runner-up voucher.

Ball rundown went to 32 points with just the three to collect and they are Allen O’Brien, Geoff Rackham and John Kelly.

Nearest the pins went to Col Wormleaton at 3, Graham Weary the jackpot lottery ticket at 5, Greg Smith at 7, Greg McCoy at 8 and 15, Denys Tobin the pizza, with Rob Coneybeare taking out the money shot.

Others to show good form were Chris Tinson, Rob Coneybeare, Dave Rosser, Denys Tobin and Dave Wilson – all rounds of 35.
