The Nambucca Valley community’s days of wine and roses may be yet to come with plans afoot to give our towns a new lease on life.
Community was the winner last Wednesday night at a special meeting of the Nambucca Business Advisory Committee, attended by property and business owners.
Councillor Janine Reed opened, informing the gathering of the committee's intention to assist all areas of the Nambucca Valley revitalise post bypass.
Council general manager Michael Coulter followed, detailing council initiatives to assist this revitalisation.
One of those initiatives, in conjunction with the committee is to enliven River St, Macksville, with some new colours and architectural features.
A schematic, conceived by local resident Rachel Ward, was unveiled to an enthusiastic audience.
Ms Ward has also procured paint for the project and is currently liaising with the Nambucca Valley Men's Shed, who are on board to produce street furniture.
Colourful murals are also on the way, thanks to local artist Felice Ferrer-Burton, who is organising a much needed facelift for the walls of Wallace Lane in Macksville.
The revitalisation process will be aided by local architect and heritage expert Alan Rudge, who will provide advice to property owners and tenants as part of his temporary employment by council.
