Cox, the world number four, finished sixth with a score of 76.78 in the first qualifying run on Friday, with the top 10 automatically through to the final.
Competitors will have a second qualifying run at 9.30pm on Sunday where a further 10 athletes will compete for a spot in the 20-person final.
“It was so good to get the first one out of the way, qualification is always interesting to see where everyone is at and feel the course in that competition setting, but I was super happy to get back in the start gate,” Cox said.
Fellow Australians Jakara Anthony (14th), Madii Himbury (15th) and Claudia Gueli (17th) finished inside the top-20.
Finalists will have three runs each with their best score to determine their final ranking.
The finals will be held at 11pm and 11.35pm on Sunday and 12.10am on Monday.
