Six projects within the Oxley electorate have been approved to share $17 million in funding under Round Two of the NSW Government’s Boating Now program.
The grants will see Gumma, Warrell Creek, and Devil’s Elbow/Grassy Park in Bowraville receive major structural improvements in the near future.
Member for Oxley, Melinda Pavey, announced more than $1.2 million would deliver new boat ramps, pontoons and jetties, and improve car and trailer parking facilities at key access points across the Oxley electorate.
“Each year more than two million people head out on to our fine waterways in NSW,” Mrs Pavey said.
“The NSW Government is delivering these projects in Oxley in partnership with local councils to make water activities safer and more accessible by the end of 2019.
“The program also supports the new Maritime Safety Plan by improving safe access to waterways.”
Mrs Pavey said this was the second round of funding under the Boating Now program, with the six projects in Oxley amongst 73 successful applications across the state.
The successful projects in Oxley include:
upgrade works to the ramp and parking area at Back Creek Boat Ramp, South West Rocks
sealing the parking area at Hat Head Ramp
constructing a two-lane boat ramp and pontoon at the Stuarts Point Boat Ramp
upgrade the Gumma Reserve Boat Ramp and trailer parking at Boultons Crossing Road
improve the Warrell Creek Boat Ramp and the parking area at South Pacific Drive, Scotts Head.
two non-powered vessel launch areas will be created at Devil’s Elbow and Grassy Park on the Nambucca River at Bowraville creating a point-to-point canoe trail.
