From March shire residents can expect the reintroduction of ONE kerbside bulky goods collection to those domestic properties that currently receive a kerbside bin collection service.
The proposed scheduled collection areas and dates for the shire are still to be determined and residents will be advised accordingly.
For residents outside the collection areas, the voucher system will continue as per the trial for rural properties however there will only be able ONE voucher per calendar year through the CCWS Hotline allowing residents to dispose of bulky goods at the Nambucca Waste Management Facility.
This new arrangement follows the trial of a voucher system for the kerbside collection of bulky goods, introduced by the Nambucca Shire Council in July 2016 to mixed reactions in the community.
Here are the stories behind this story:
In addition to this, in November Nambucca Shire councillors voted to approach the Nambucca Heads, Unkya and Bowraville Local Aboriginal Land Councils seeking their interest in a one-off bulky goods collection to the residents they are providing housing to, with the costs being met by Council.
The council also voted to ask the three Land Councils to assist by issuing reminders to their tenants prior to the annual scheduled collection.
The council’s Coordinator Civic Services, Simon Chapman, said all three Land Councils were sent a letter on December 15, 2017 advising them of the one-off bulky goods collection offer for properties they managed within the Nambucca Local Government Area.
“So far we have only had a response from Unkya, however given the letter was mailed mid December 2017 I am not expecting responses until the middle of this month,” Mr Chapman said.
