Nambucca Heads can expect temperatures up to 25 degrees, Bowraville will be a bit warmer, up to 27 degrees and the same for Macksville.
The thundery, wet start to the new year will continue for the next few days with relief on Friday when the sun is forecast to come out and set the scene for a sunny weekend.
Last year January rainfall around the shire was more than 100mm but the really big rain came in March when rainfall totals hovered around the 460mm mark, which is when we got our last big flood.

Statistics from the Bureau of Meteorology show that January is traditionally one of the shire’s wetter months, with March the wettest month on average.
Over the last decade 2009 and 2011 were the wettest years, the former recording an average rainfall of 2241mm and the latter, 2131mm.
Last year’s rainfall was around 1350mm.
