Market stalls lined the footpaths selling their wares for Christmas shoppers looking for that perfect stocking filler or special locally hand-made gift.
As the summer sun beamed down for a balmy afternoon in Bowraville, Santa made his entrance in the local fire truck – sirens raised and lights flashing – to gift eager kids with sweets and treats.
Another big hit with the kids was the soft-play area complete with a bouncy castle and rope ladder climbing apparatus. When the kids weren’t lining up in droves for a go on the ladders, they were getting creative with chalk drawings on the road surface and making finger puppets with the help of local volunteers.
The Bowraville Drummers put on high energy performances, adding to the buzz of activity in the street.
But it was when evening approached and the Nambucca District Band began to fill the air with brassy sounds of jingle bells, that the Christmas feeling really set it. Their repertoire included favourite Christmas carol classics played with such flair and enthusiasm.
As dusk faded the beautiful hand-crafted lanterns were switched on to showcase their full glory. These enchanting artworks lined the High Street and acted as a reminder of the creativity and beauty within the Bowraville community of volunteers.
The night ended with the children joining in a lantern parade through the street with their very own pied pipers – a trombonist from the Nambucca District Band and drummer from the Bowraville Drummers.
