Two men have been arrested and one charged by Nambucca Valley Police after an alleged high-speed chase ended in bushland around Newee Ck.
The pursuit allegedly began just after midday when a red Holden Commodore sharply accelerated in the northbound lane of the A1 at Nambucca Heads.
Several police vehicles and a helicopter were involved in the chase which continued through rural Valla before ending in a yard at Newee Creek.
“PolAir and the dog squad just happened to be in the area so they offered assistance,” Chief Inspector Guy Flaherty said.
A 25-year-old man from Bowraville has been charged with fail to stop during police pursuit under Skye’s Law, drive while disqualified, possess and carry cutting implement and possess prohibited drugs.
Police are also waiting on toxicology reports to come back before making any further charges.
The 25-year-old man was refused bail and will appear before a magistrate at Macksville Local Court tomorrow.
The passenger was detained by police but later released without charges.
