The traditional annual local derby - the Highlanders versus the Lowlanders - kicked off at 1pm. The Highlanders quickly established their dominance holding sizable margins over the Lowlanders on five of the six rinks. Some dogged play from the Lowlanders improved their position - but not enough. The Highlanders have the trophy for the next year after winning 72-68.
The presentations followed. This part of the evening was attended by sponsors and almost all members. A big round of thanks is called for to all those men and women who not only fed everyone well but also took care of the myriad details on the day.
Many men and women bowlers received awards in the Mixed Sides. Many men received awards in the Men's Fours and Triples.
The Men's Pairs went to Hagop Aladjadjian and Tyrone Webber with Dale Scrivener and Peter Bishop being the runners-up. The Men's Minor Singles winner for 2017 was Gary Bishop and David Campbell was the runner-up.
The flagship event, the Men's Major Singles, was taken out by Hagop Aladjadjian who defeated Tyrone Webber in the final. This marks five consecutive years that ‘H’ has been the Club Champion.
