The council’s Assistant General Manager (Engineering), Paul Gallagher, said the once-off maintenance package was in the vicinity of $1.65m to $1.9m.
“We are currently stalled on the agreement of the condition of the culverts under the old highway pavement,” Mr Gallagher said.
“Once staff are comfortable with the offer for maintenance compensation it will be presented to Council for formal endorsement.”
He said the ten-year package included the full value for condition maintenance for the first five years with a specified maintenance formula applied for the second five years.
“The agreed schedule of rates will carry forward for the next section of Nambucca Heads South to the Kempsey Shire boundary, which should speed up the negotiations. These however cannot be completed until traffic is relocated to the new road and a pavement assessment of the old road can be done.”
