Over the later part of the weekend a rain event is expected develop off the NSW/QLD border and then move south generating heavy falls.
At this stage the Bureau of Meteorology are closely monitoring the developing weather system regarding potential for flash and riverine flooding affecting parts of the Mid North Coast and will provide further advice over the coming days.
NSW SES Mid North Coast Region is urging residents to make some preparations around the home over the weekend for next week’s wet weather and to closely monitor local media for any severe weather warnings for heavy rain, flood watches or flood warnings.
“We are encouraging residents to use the weekend to clean gutters and downpipes, trim trees branches away from property and secure down outdoor items and furniture as a way of preparing for next week’s rain event,” NSW SES Mid North Coast Region Controller, Tony Day said.
“The heavy rain starting around Monday will coincide with large spring tides so are asking people not to drive, walk or ride through flood water should inundation of roads, bridges and causeways eventuate.”
Information on how residents can prepare for severe weather can be obtained by visiting the NSW SES website www.ses.nsw.gov.au.
