Valla Beach’s Cass Sutton has taken out the Open category prize at the Your Health Link National Photographic Competition … from a record 1,300 entries received nationwide.

Organised by the Mid North Coast Local Health District, the annual competition offered more than $45,000 in cash and prizes across four categories with winners presented with their awards at a gala evening at Port Macquarie’s Glasshouse last week.
Cass said she was surprised, overwhelmed and thrilled to be among the winners.
“I feel very humble to be among the amazing photographers whose entries were chosen as finalists,” Cass said.
She said her photo of an older couple, entitled ‘Joy of Life’ captured the moment when she asked them to reflect and remember moments in their relationship and their life.
Other winners were :
Primary School category was Clare Young from Lismore with Puppy Love.
High School category was Joel Parkinson from Tasmania with Breath of Fresh Air.
The mobile category was awarded to Anne-Marie Seve for Watermelon Daze.
The competition focusses on increasing health literacy through the exciting medium of photography, where community members are given the topic Healthy Life, Healthy You to actively participate in creating visual images that represent the subject matter.
Competition judge Toni Fuller said the standard of the photos submitted was very high and the theme of Healthy Life, Healthy You was interpreted in some unique and creative ways in the entries received.
