IT WAS a day of smashed bowlers and a new record as Nambucca Heads took on Macksville Country Club at Coronation Park on Saturday in the Nambucca Valley club cricket competition.

Heads lost the toss and were sent into bat and Peter Lee went on a run spree – scoring his first double-hundred and the highest number for the club since records began.
Peter finished up with 208 not out – an amazing feat considering it was a 40-over match and his side’s total was 4/274.
In reply, Country Club could only muster 86 (Ozzie Kinnear top scored with 51). Best with the ball for Nambucca Heads was Harrison Lee with 3/20. Nambucca Heads winners by 188 runs.
At Thistle Park Turf, Nambucca Hotel sent Scotts Head into bat and they posted 7/163. Top scorers Dylan Stewart 42, Ryan Gleeson 32 and Joe Borg 24 not out. Best bowlers Jesse Allan 3/26 and Daniel Ledger 2/22.
Nambucca Hotel passed the total with seven wickets down, with M Ward the top scorer with 64 not out. Thomas Barbour was best with the ball for Scotts Head with 3/29. Nambucca Hotel winners by 3 wickets.
In the other club clash, Star Hotel won the toss and elected to bat against Bowraville but only managed to face 12 overs before being bowled out for 26. Best bowlers for Bowraville were K. Edwards 3/9, Greg Brown 2/4 and Eric Brown 2/7.
Bowraville chased down the runs with the loss of one wicket with T Blair 17 not out and S Tyerman 15 not out. Josh Willer was the wicker taker for Star Hotel. Bowraville the winner by nine wickets.
This Saturday’s matches: Bowraville v Nambucca Hotel at Bowraville, Scotts Head v Nambucca Heads at Scotts Head, Macksville Country Club v Star Hotel at Thistle Park. All games start at 1pm.
Meanwhile, 1st Grade Interdistrict was played on Sunday at Thistle Park, with Nambucca Hotel facing Coffs Harbour. Coffs won the toss and elected to bat and were all out for 156. Nambucca Valley’s best bowlers were Josh Bartlett 4/38 and Jack Ireland 2/15.
Nambucca Valley chased down the target with 5 wickets in hand finishing 5/158. Top scorers were Justin Saker 38 and Brodie Bartlett 30. Nambucca Valley won by 5 wickets.
