THE STAGE is set for a thrilling night of racing at the Macksville Gift with the afternoon’s competitive session now complete.
Heats and semi-finals of the various events – from 70-metre sprints through to a 300-metre handicap – have been run and won – setting up a series of exciting deciders in the evening session.
A Little Athletics program is currently underway, before the heats of the World Championship Banana Hurl, due to get underway from 4 o’clock.
The earlier events have been dominated by the Hanna family, while 300-metre back-marker and favourite Thomas Newman was eye-catching in the first heat over that distance.
The 64th Macksville Gift is being run at Allan Gillett Oval – and this historic event has come about on the backs of countless hours of work by volunteers led by Gift committee president Owen Rushton.
