Round 3 of the 2017/18 Competition was played under sunny skies.
Scotts Head hosted Star Hotel. Scotts Head won the toss and batted first and started on fire with Ryan Gleeson 75 and Dylan Stewart 49 putting on 99 for the first wicket.
Issac Jones batted brilliantly for 99 not out while a solid 51 from L Bennett saw Scotts Head finish their 40 overs 4/308.
Best of the bowlers were Daryl Welsh, Ethan Davidson and Brandon Willer with one wicket each.
In reply, Star Hotel faced a massive ask.
A half century to Daryl Welsh 53 and good solid contributions from Connor Lockyer 19 and Brandon Willer 20 helped but Star Hotel finished well short of the target at 9/153 off the 40 overs.
Best with the ball for Scotts Head were Dylan Stewart 3/8, Logan Donovan 3/20 and Kirsty Pedrola 2/21.
Scotts Head winners by 155 runs.
Peter Lee reports – senior cricket came back to Coronation Park for first time in four years with Nambucca Heads taking on Nambucca Hotel with Hotel winning the toss and electing to bat.
Hotel got off to a steady foundation with Jesse Allen 17, Jack Ingham 12 and J Newman 30 all getting a start. A bowling change brought on debutant and junior Harrison Lee and Jacob Welsh and with some classy catching from Greg Watts, Hotel lost 7/28, being all out for 100 with Harrison Lee finishing the day 5/16 off four overs and Jacob Welsh 2/14.
Nambucca Heads started their innings slowly with the loss of early wickets, with Hotel bowling very tight with Nambucca going into drinks at 6/55. But with Jacob Welsh 22 no and Peter Lee 45 no, Nambucca chased down the runs off 30 overs.
Great to see Nambucca Heads back in the comp with a team, half of whom are juniors.
Nambucca Heads winners by 4 wickets.
