Bowraville is welcoming the Valley to its Rainbow Ball this Saturday for a night of pizzazz.
Two renowned Sydney cabaret musicians, James and Tani, will rock Grants Hall all night long, with another former Sydney professional bringing his projection magic to illuminate the event.
“When they get together they are a powerhouse—they are just something else,” organiser Rocky Rewharewha said.
This event has nothing to do with LGBTIQ matters, it’s just about rainbows and creativity—everyone loves a rainbow!
“People always ask ‘Why do this in Bowraville?’ and I say well why not?
“People out here are enormously talented, and love pretty things and having a good time.
“There’s a lot of pent-up creativity in this town that just wants to burst free, and this is the perfect event for that.”
Rocky’s alter-ego Coco Canal and guests Kiwi FruitLoop and Cara Van Park will also perform some impromptu stage shows on the night.
There will be prizes for best costumes on the night, with first prize of dinner, bed and breakfast at the brand new and exclusive Jambarrga Orchards donated by owners Ricardo and Andres.
Second Prize has been donated by Bowraville Hotel licensee Shane Welsh and includes a two-night stay for two at the hotel.
And third prize includes a stylecut, colour and blow-dry/set with a full facial by Kyley, Rocky and Tanya of Let’s Talk Hair.
There will also be a variety of spot prizes given for ‘most tragic’ or ‘worst dressed’ etc. donated by the Ball’s sponsors: Harriett’s and the Macksville Department Store.
The first fantasy ball of this kind in Bowraville packed the house and Rocky is expecting a similar turnout for this event.
“We want for this ball to become so well-known that it becomes an established calendar event and everyone will want to come to it,” Rocky said.
The Rainbow Ball kicks off from 7pm, October 28, at Grants Hall, High St, Bowraville.
Tickets are $25 pp and are available for purchase through Harriett’s in Macksville, HelloWorld in Nambucca Heads, the Bowraville Theatre, Let’s Talk Hair or through Rocky on 0474 025 803.
All money raised on the night will go towards supporting the Bowraville Arts Council.
