IT’S BEEN an amazing season for the Bowraville Tigers, and the main affair at the Group 2 junior rugby league grand finals at Smithtown on Saturday saw their imperious Under 16s square off against Sawtell.
Bowraville – with two players already on the Parramatta Eels books – were heavy favourites to run away with this one but Sawtell were in David-mode against the Goliaths from the Nambucca Valley.
The underdogs had most of the possession, and profited from a lopsided penalty count to go to oranges trailing just 4-10. The Tiges first try almost coming against the run of play after a high pill was spilled at the back by Sawtell.
But after the break Bowra delivered on their hype to outclass a determined Sawtell outfit, and run away with the contest.
