It will be a dash of nostalgia, looking back to a time when gloves and hats were de rigeur for any social engagement.
Nambucca/Macskville Evening VIEW Club is hosting a Hats, Gloves and Old Country Roses Tea Party to raise funds for the education of disadvantaged children, of which they already sponsor five.
VIEW Program Officer, Anne Sutton, said holding the event at the 104-year-old Utungun Hall was a way of showcasing the hall’s beautiful bucolic setting and also helping with its own fundraising.
“This is a day out for the family, an opportunity for everyone to get dressed up … grandmothers can introduce their granddaughters to fine china and pretty dresses,” Anne said.
“Men are most welcome … it is a chance to wear a suit and tie.
“We are all volunteers, all the cakes will be homemade and delicious.”
“All funds raised will go towards the education of the children we sponsor through the Smith Family.
“The program also works with the children’s families, so they can better appreciate what doors an education can open. This can help lead to generational change.”
The tea party will be held on Saturday, October 14 from 11am to 3pm at the Utungun Hall, which is only 10 minutes along the Taylors Arm Rd from Macksville.
The cost is $25, bookings essential – phone Anne 0412 048 588 or Jan 0412 230 783.
