Recently, on behalf of the Bowra-Macksville Hospital Auxiliary, the Guardian issued a plea for more volunteers to staff the volunteer-run coffee shop.

The response was overwhelming and the cafe now boasts many eager new staff members.

“It was a great success. We have received more than six interested people,” Margaret Mottley said.

“We also man the hospital trolley taking around sweets and items that people need in hospital and we also need more volunteers for this.”
