The new northern bridge on Old Coast Road that provides access over the new Pacific Highway for local traffic will be open to traffic next Wednesday, August 30.
The two-lane bridge is 95 metres in length and eight metres wide.
It comprises three spans and six U-girders that are 1.6 metres high and provide 5.3 metres clearance for vehicles on the new highway.
The new road will provide access to local traffic along Old Coast Road between Nambucca Heads, Bowraville and Macksville.
The current temporary Old Coast Road side-track that has been used by traffic since late 2016 will be closed, allowing the unabated completion of the highway in this area.
From Wednesday all traffic will be diverted to use the new bridge across the highway.
This change will remove the point of interaction between site vehicles and the travelling public making it safer for all involved.
The northern Old Coast Road bridge is the fifth of 15 bridges to be opened to traffic since building work began on the Warrell Creek to Nambucca Heads project in late 2014.
