FOLLOWING the success of the Central North Coast Tournament the preceding week, the Nambucca Ladies stepped up again for the yearly Open Day on Friday August 18 at The Island Golf Course.

The ladies were grateful to the generous sponsors of this event, Bradley’s Real Estate and Eyecare Plus, and were pleased to welcome their representatives, Kelen Crawley and Margaret Chiffley, to present the prizes.
104 starters competed in a four-person ambrose with visitors from South West Rocks, Kempsey, Woolgoolga, Coffs Harbour, Sawtell, Bonville, Bellingen, Urunga. Bowraville, Macksville and Crescent Head. The Island ladies thank them all for their participation.
The winning team was Paluch, Hopkins, Guest and McNally with a winning score of 60 nett. They were followed by Preston, McNamara, Campling and Bruce on 61.12. The 2nd runner-up was the team of Shearer, Monico, Hall and Hillman with net 61.75.
The gross winners were Nutchley-Robinson, Nance, Murphy and Cotse with 68 gross with Hickey, Kruse, Nichol and Price being the runners-up with 69.
Nearest the pins went to Narelle Delaney, 5th, Jo Ellis, 7th, J Ainsworth, 8th, N McNamara 13th and Marion Bradey was the lucky winner of the $86 on the 18th. Accuracy drives went to Jo Ellis, Div 1; Gay Petit, Div 2; and Nicole Purser, Div 3. Balls went to 64.2.
Ann Antcliff donated two generous prizes for the raffle.
Following the prize giving all enjoyed afternoon tea supplied by the Nambucca ladies.
Meanwhile, on Wednesday August 16, 34 players played a single stableford on a hot and windy day. Winners were A division: Rhonda Rowe, 35, runner-up Narelle Delaney, 31.
Division 2: Lori Smith, 34, runner-up Sue O’Donnell, 33. Division 3: Robin Jones, 36, who was also the overall winner of the day. The runner-up in this division was Kerrie Shearer, also on 36 points.
Nearest the pins went to Coral McCann, Leanne Welsh and Kerrie Shearer on the 5th, Sue Seymour on the 13th and Gillian Anderson the 18th.
The ball rundown went to 31 stableford points.
Coming up is the Island Classic, running from Saturday August 26 to Thursday August 31.
