With September approaching, Valley residents and those outside the shire are beginning to polish up their pieces for that grandest of machinery showcases, the Rusty Iron Rally.

As always, the event, which is organised by Mid North Coast Machinery Restoration Club, will be held on the Fathers’ Day weekend, September 2 and 3, at the Macksville Showground.

The club always have a ‘Charity of Choice’ and this year’s one is the Make a Wish Foundation, which grants wishes and helps children dealing with serious and sometimes terminal illnesses.

Local volunteers and clubs are the engine that drives the rally and those organisations receive a contribution for their assistance.

The Rally has a huge following from vintage and classic machinery enthusiasts from all over Australia and this year will celebrate a century of Fordson tractors.

There will also be a big display of Caterpillar crawlers, as well as a ‘Best of British’ feature with trucks, cars and motorbikes.
