Farrell and Berry win Nambucca golf foursomes

SATURDAY’S event at The Island Golf Course was the men’s foursomes championships over 27 holes (and an 18-hole stableford for those for keen on the foursomes).

Winners in the men’s foursomes championships for 2017 were the pairing of Peter Farrell and Bruce Berry after they had a round of 10 double-bogeys, but still good enough to scrape home with a total of 130. Not too far behind was Phil Mander and Jason Belt with 131 gross. They were followed in by Allan O’Brien and Dave Rosser with a round of 132 to get the countback from Warren Fuller and Paul McElhinney.

In the stableford, Peter Delaney (16 handicap) had 35 to take out division 1 from John Starr (15) on 33. In division 2 Walter Bortoletto (24) came up with a round of 39 points that would please him no end. Got to feel for Ronny Cook (24), another runner’s up voucher after a countback with 39 points.

Paul Ryan (11) put together a round of 40 points to take out division 1. Getting home next with a round of 37 points was Alan Cockburn (10), who put together 37 points.

Division 2 was taken out by Robyn Jones (41) with a score of 39 points. Good to see Garry Tierney (22) collect a voucher after a round of 38 points. Ball round down went to 33 with just the one to collect and that is Kerry McCoy.
