Optus has announced they will invest $1 billion into improving regional mobile coverage.
Member for Cowper Luke Hartsuyker has welcomed the recent announcement which will see 500 new mobile sites installed, including upgrade from 3G to 4G in Nambucca’s Valla and Scotts Head.
“Optus is really stepping up their investment into regional areas of Australia and that is fantastic news for regional communities,” Mr Hartsuyker said.
“More competition for customers in the regional telecommunication sector has the potential to drive down prices and improve customer service as Telcos will have to do more to keep their existing customers.
“This will also include upgrade of around 1,800 sites from 3G to 4G and adding additional 4G capacity to 200 sites nationwide.
“The areas tipped for upgraded or new towers include Toormina, East Kempsey, Scotts Head, Valla, Coffs Harbour, and Port Macquarie.
Mr Hartsuyker said that he is excited to see how these upgrades translate into improved opportunities for local businesses.
“Improved mobile coverage for Optus customers unlocks a great deal of opportunities in this increasingly tech-reliant world.
“Family is just a call away, shopping is easier, and businesses can communicate with potentially billions more customers.”
