The visitors have always had potential this season, but it’s been little more than an abstract for frustrated fans as the Strikers have bumbled along and dashed what might have been.
Today, they delivered in spades. Their first was a smidge cheeky, as the Boambee keeper used his fly buys to travel downfield only to be caught short for the return flight as a Striker deflty chipped over his head into the string.
But from there, it was magic by the Strikers, who made merry down the right flank, to be three to the good at the break.
Nambucca were quicker and fitter, and most tellingly, won 95 per cent of the contested balls.
Quite simply, they were hungrier.
Energised and focussed, they overran Boambee – who were playing short – in the second half.
The challenge for the Strikers now will be to continue to deliver this level of performance.
