The new track was built due to the unavailable arena.
The Kempsey Mower Racing Club has been working on the track for the past six months and committee member Gary Lewthwaite is excited for racing.
“After a lot of hard work it will be good to get out there,” Lewthwaite said.
There are 12 competitors listed to compete in the challenge, with two defending champions attending from Lismore.
Lewthwaite expects the challenge to be divided into three classes based on speed and driver experience.
Racing starts at midday Saturday until late afternoon and it will continue at 10am on Sunday before concluding in the afternoon.
The winner will be crowned based on points accumulated over the two days.
The lawn mowers are specifically designed to for racing.
“You can do pretty much whatever you want to the lawn mowers to make it go faster but it must resemble a lawn mower and have the lawn mower tyres on it,” Lewthwaite said.
He said the Kempsey Mower Racing Club will continue to fine tune the track to constantly improve its quality.
