Kath McPhail added to her long list of titles with an outstanding display of skill (and her hallmark calmness) to defeat Lynne Tarrant in the 2017 Major Singles Championship.
It was Kath's sixth major singles title at Urunga!
Congratulations to Kath and Lynne on the great games played on their road to reaching the final.
District Championships are being played this month. The ‘Sister Acts’ of Sylvia Mitchell and Colleen Katen have already impressed as members of the winning 2017 Senior Fours team.
This past week they came so close to winning the District Open Pairs event. Every game was a nail-biter. They lost the final 15-13 to the Park Beach team of Bev White and Denise Peake. The lead see-sawed all morning and the standard of the play was excellent. Well done!
Innovation and variety is the focus on the greens at social bowls.
‘Yardstick’ and ‘queen of the green’ singles challenges are enthusing and entertaining the members during the welcome cooler weather.
The rink winners were: Brenda Fane, Helen Hoffman, Jean Dew (Tuesday) and Jo Bathgate (Thursday).
