At their meeting tonight Nambucca Shire councillors will discuss whether to pursue a requested licence amendment for the Bowra Dam, which was previously rejected by Department Primary Industries and Water (DPI-Water).
The requested amendment to the current operational licence would allow for the capture of a percentage of runoff during high rainfall events.
Following the rejection, the council resolved to discuss the matter with consultants GHD.
GHD suggested the best course of action would be to request a meeting with DPI-Water and other stakeholders to fully clarify the extent of their concerns and argue a case for the amendment before addressing the concerns in a second submission.
The council will vote on whether to request the meeting.
